DTM Champion participates in the CG Live Talk

On Wednesday we will be experiencing a completely different kind of talk with a very different type of customer. The 2017 ADAC Motor Sportsman of the Year and two-time German Touring Car Masters (DTM) champion René Rast talks to Steven Baumgärtner about his merchandising plans, initial products and the idea behind them.

The price of making it to the top was a lot of hard work, stamina and many sleepless nights. Ever since his childhood René Rast dreamed of racing in DTM competitions, and in order to achieve his ambition he made these qualities the basis for his motorsport career. The investment definitely paid off: after many successful years in the Porsche Cups and various GT3 race series the first championship titles soon followed. As an Audi works driver René Rast managed the step up onto the world motorsport stage and competed in the legendary endurance races at Daytona, Le Mans, Spa and the Nürburgring.  Then, in 2017 he was finally able to fulfil his dream of competing in the DTM. He made his debut season in the touring car series with Audi's Team Rosberg and for the first time took the wheel of the new Audi RS 5 DTM. After winning the 2017 title and the runner-up title one year later, 2019 marked his third season with the Audi works team - and the second major triumph.

His fan base has grown in line with this series of successes, and many of his fans began asking René if there were caps or T-shirts available with which they could identify themselves as his fans. Greater appreciation and support is difficult to imagine and so René started to think intensively about the subject of merchandise articles. As someone who is always very close to his fans he quickly decided to fulfill their wishes, and then found that the whole enterprise was also a very satisfying experience.

The first caps and T-shirts in the cool René Rast Racing design were promptly created in cooperation with our design team. Always geared to his personalised DTM starting number 33, each article makes an individual impact and is an absolute must-have for the collections of his many fans.

More about his products, the idea and a preview of further cool items will follow at 10 a.m. on Wednesday.
