Launch window postponed

The weather forecast is not looking good for our cyber mission from 11.1. - 13.1.2022. The CSA experts have had intensive consultations and agreed to wait for a better weather window, probably in April.

Every mission has to be perfectly prepared, every detail needs to fit and all the conditions have to be right, otherwise we won't be able to give clearance for the launch. "The weather can be particularly challenging in December and January, so our goal is to move forward with the highest level of mission safety and protection for the crew," said First Officer Steven Baumgärtner.

The cyber mission "Welcome to our Universe" was actually scheduled to launch in Düsseldorf on Tuesday, 11 January 2022. The entire crew was already in the middle of preparations. However, postponed is not cancelled, and we're planning to launch the mission in April 2022.

We will keep you informed about the progress of our preparations and the weather forecast for April. Only then can we check into our cosmonaut hotel a few days beforehand and rehearse the very last procedures until the countdown starts and the "point of no return" is reached.
